About Me

My approach to bodywork varies by individual;  I strongly believe that one standard approach will not be the best way to meet the needs of a specific client.  I listen to my client's individual issues before the initial treatment, and get an update before starting each bodywork session.  I also "listen" carefully to what a client's body tells me through touch and working signs during the bodywork session.  I often find that the location of noticeable pain or discomfort are the symptoms, while the underlying cause lies somewhere else in the body.  Using Esalen Massage® and/or Zero Balancing® as the foundation,  I tailor and adjust each session to the specific needs of that client at that time.
Although my approach varies for each client, a typical massage may look like this:  I will use Esalen Massage® together with reflexology early in the session, to both gain a deeper understanding of, and relax, the body.  I tend to use Zero Balancing® and acupressure techniques during the massage, to address specific issues that I find or that the client has identified.  And I will often include some CranioSacral treatment at the conclusion of the massage.
I can draw any of the modalities in which I have trained in a given session, either alone or in combination.  Clients may request a specific modality, or I may recommend a treatment based on prior experience with that client.
Sports Therapy and Chronic Pain relief sessions are somewhat different.  These sessions are more interactive, as the client and I work together.  After listening to the client's description of his or her muscle symptoms, I will often use some massage and Zero Balancing techniques to explore where the underlying issues are.  Using the Muscle Release Technique®, I will use specific stretches combined with massage to lengthen and release muscle tightness and interior scar tissue.  Often the client will assist in doing the stretch while I focus on the release.  I will also show you specific Active Isolated Stretching exercises you can do at home, to continue to improve releasing the muscle tightness and prevent recurrence.
